About the photographer
Like many others of the now 30-something generation, I grew up during the 1970s idolising American automotive supremacy, beamed into my living room via shows like The Dukes of Hazard and Starsky and Hutch.
My idolatry of V8 Muscle was further fuelled when, aged 11, I visited Santa pod raceway for the first time. Muscle cars, funny cars, and the wildest of dragsters captured my imagination and stirred my soul, an experience which remains one of my fondest and most enduring childhood memories.
Later in life, films like Bullit, Vanishing Point and 2 Lane Black Top only deepened my love of these machines.
With these colour drenched images, I try to capture the explosive energy of a few brief seconds and the heart thumping spectacle of V8 Muscle – raw, alive, vivid and violently beautiful.
